OCS NEWS

TY 08 Illinois OCS Schedule for Traditional and Accelerated Programs

 1.  Soldiers who are accepted into the Illinois OCS program before 18 April 2008 and whose OCS packets are complete can enroll in OCS class 53-08 and select between two programs, Traditional and Accelerated.

2. Traditional and Accelerated OCS Programs are preceded by Preparatory Phase which operates continuously with open enrollment. All soldiers must attend at least two drills in Preparatory Phase with the 129th RTI before they ship to Phase 1 in June 2008. The preparatory Phase is specifically designed to prepare each soldier for successful completion of Phase 1. It also allows sufficient time for completion of the application process and correction of any deficiencies with an Officer Candidate’s packet before soldier’s ship to Phase 1.

3. The dates and locations for Accelerated OCS Programs are as follows:

Spring 2008 Accelerated (8 weeks)

Report to 129th RTI Springfield, IL NLT 0900 on 10 January, 2008

Travel to Ft. McClellan, Alabama on 11 January 2008

Start Date 12 January 2008 // End Date 09 March 2007

Travel back to Illinois 09 March 2008 // Commisioning Ceremony (TBA)

Summer 2008 Accelerated (8 weeks)

Report to 129th RTI Springfield, IL NLT 0900 on 12 June 2007

            Travel to Ft. McClellan, Alabama on 13 June 2008

Start Date 14 June 2008 // End Date 09 August 2007

Travel back to Illinois 09 August 2008 // Commisioning Ceremony 24 Aug 2008

4. The dates and locations for Traditional Program, Class 53-08 are as follows:

Phase 1 (2 weeks Annual Training)

Report to 129th RTI Springfield, IL NLT 0900 on 05 June, 2008

Travel to Camp Ripley, Minnesota 06 June 2008

Start Date 07 June 2008 // End Date 21 June 2008

Travel back to Illinois 09 August 2008

Phase 2 (12 months)

Conducted at Illinois Military Academy (IMA), Springfield in Inactive Drill Training (IDT) status.

Start Date July 2008 // End Date June 2009

Phase 3 (2 weeks Annual Training)

Start Date//End date, July- August 2009 (exact time and location TBD)

Graduation for Class 53-08 is projected for August 2009

5. Graduation for OCS Accelerated and 52-07 Class is scheduled for 24 August 2008

6. Officer Candidates will be given detailed information and instructions for their respective programs during the Preparatory phase prior to shipment.
